Tension homework xxx

In the first paragraph he feels like his dread and fear would soon be over. An example of this is ''An awful weariness washed through me, and with a fervent hope that this endless hanging would soon be over.'' It also tells us that he wanted the terrifying experience to be over. I quote ''I wanted with all my heart for it to finish.''

In this piece of writing the writer structures the text to vary the tension by using:

  • Speech
  • Expressions
  • Connectives
  • Adjectives
And exaggerating A LOT !!!
An example of this is '' scarcely able to hold my head up.''

The fears and thoughts he shares with the reader are about how he could possibly die also what his emotions are and how the fear of dying scares him. He tells us how he can die and he also tells us what fears he has about if he was to freeze to death. He tries to make the reader understand his pain and feel his fear.

The passage ends with him explaining how he comes to his long awaited fate, And what he has been building up the tension for. He says '' This endless hanging would soon be over.'' Which shows us that he doesn't want to suffer anymore.

He varies the sentence length and the structure by:

  • Using short sentences with rhetorical questions like '' how long will you be, Simon?''
  • Using dramatic 1 word sentences for example: ''So!'' ''Pity!''
