In Elizabethan times disrespecting your father was frowned upon as male figures were looked up at. If you were to disrespect your father that would be a very bad thing to do and you may be beaten as in those times that was aloud as long as you were not to beat a woman to death.
Father - daughter relations varied as many people had different views on things. Parents has absolute rights over their children back then, they could control them until they got married and then the husband would control them. Girls had to look up to the male figure in their life eg if you were married you would look up to your husband and if you were not married (single) then you would look up to your father.
Wives were expected to defer to their husbands in all things. Back in Elizabethan times man were aloud to beat their wife with a stick as long as the stick is no thinker than their thumb and as wel, as they do not beat them to death. A woman who runs away from their husband can be brought before the church courts and although the woman may plead that she only ran away because he used her cruelly, the husband might tell the court that he only beat her only to make her mend her ways, the court might well then order her to resume living with her husband even though the woman will not be happy but male figures had a higher rightened women were seen as possessions and not people because men acted like they own them.
If you were to defy your father it was considered inappropriate and it was frowned upon. If you were to defy your father your family members may treat you with less respect because they think what you have done is completely out of line and extremely rude.
